She passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on September 16, 2010, surrounded by her three daughters.
Mary enjoyed playing pinochle, gardening, making baby quilts, cooking and most of all, spending time with her family and friends.
She and her husband, Ernest Rikansrud, who predeceased her in 1996, loved traveling in their motorhome from Camano Island to Yuma, Arizona each winter. Always with them were their beloved Boston Terriers. For 20 years Mary was active in the community club where she lived in Yuma.
The latter years of Mary's life were spent in Marysville, WA, where she was a member of Atonement Free Lutheran Church in Arlington, WA serving on the Visitation Committee, Stephen Ministry, and Senior Ministry Committee cooking and serving many at the Senior Luncheons.
We have lost the center of our family and we will miss her greatly. She was strong, caring, loving, hard-working and a role model in accepting and making the best of what life brings. Well done, good and faithful servant.
Besides her husband, Ernest, Mary was predeceased by her sons, Lyle Bradford and Dennis Rikansrud, sisters, and a brother.
She is survived by daughters, Doris (Marvin) Rainer, Delores Sjostrom and Joann (John) Veleber; 10 grandchildren: Carl Bradford, Brad (Hannah) Rainer, David (Tina) Rainer, Don (Lisa) Rainer, Mary Beth King, Tina (Joel) Rimmer, Kerry (Geoff) Johnson, Jamie (Aaron) Calhoun, Jeremy (Jenny) Veleber and Joseph Veleber; 20 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Louise Buxton and Mary Bartley; brother, Joseph Bury, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Atonement Free Lutheran Church, 6905 172nd St NE, Arlington, WA with final interment at Acacia Memorial Park, Seattle, WA.
