The son of Delia Caswell and Joseph Rowling, John married Marcella Emery on January 1, 1865. After she passed at the young age of 36, he remarried in 1883 to Florence Moore and outlived her as well. The U.S. Census lists his occupation as a farmer. John registered for the draft in 1863, but no record of service was found.
