WALLA WALLA — Vergie M. Broadfoot, 96, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, in Walla Walla. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 19 in the chapel of the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main St, Milton-Freewater. Interment to follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in College Place, Wash. Visitation hours will be held from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18.
Mrs. Broadfoot was born May 19, 1914, in Eminence, Mo., to James and Nettle Tucker Bunch, one of 11 children. She attended and taught at local schools in Shannon County, Mo. In 1938 she married Lindell L. Broadfoot in Salem, Mo.
The couple owned and operated a farm in Shannon County, Mo., for a few years before moving to Heppner in 1947. Mr. Broadfoot followed the timber business and they lived in various locations including Monument before settling in Milton-Freewater in 1980. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker.
Mrs. Broadfoot is survived by daughters Linda Walcker and Donna Brown, both of Milton-Freewater, Judy Lamberton of Brewster, Wash., Joan Broadfoot of Ashland and Mary Ann Warnock of Kennewick, Wash.; brother Luke Bunch of Douglasville, Ga.; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lindell in 1992, and son Ron Broadfoot.
