BRISTOL, Anna Murlene, went home to be with her Savior on Friday, June 18, 2010 at the age of 79, surrounded by her family. Murlene was born January 27, 1931 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Murlene grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1948. She and her husband, Harold B. Bristol were married for 60 years and were blessed with three sons. While her boys were young, Murlene was very involved in the PTA and was a den mother for the Cub Scouts. With a heart for serving the Lord, she worked as church secretary for Southwood Baptist for many years. She was very active in the daily operations of the church, mission's programs, and Wednesday night dinners. She also was an Avon representative for many years. A loving wife, devoted mother, and doting grandmother, Murlene will be deeply missed by all the lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold B. Bristol (2008), mother Lula Morrison and stepdad Lewis Morrison, father Murl Gold, brother Fred Gold, and grandson Brent Thomas Bristol. She is survived by son Gary Bristol and wife Vickie, son Wayne Bristol and wife Delia, son Michael Bristol and wife Coleen; grandchildren Diana Waugh and husband Ronnie, David Bristol and wife Sarah, Shae Keen and husband Jason, Shelbie Bristol, Krista Cahill, and Shane Hawkinson and wife Miki; 10 great grandsons and 3 great granddaughters. Per Murlene's request, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brookwood Baptist Missions Department, 8921 S. Walker, OKC, OK 73139. Viewing will be at Vondel Smith and Son Mortuary, 6934 S. Western Avenue from 4-8 PM Monday. Services to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Brookwood Baptist Church. Interment will following at Resthaven Cemetery.
