Per the Local History of Marlborough, Vermont: "Mansfield-Bruce, b. June 14, 1841, enlisted with his brother, Aug. 11, 1862, into Co. C. 2nd Regt. Vt. Vols., and returned to his mother, and d. of consumption, Dec. 26, 1862."
