DEATH NOTICE
"BRADFORD HOSUE KILLED. Word was received here Friday of the accidental death of Bradford House, a former Ansley boy, who had for some four years past been located at Haxtun, Colorado. We have bee n able to get only a meagee account of the accident, but it seems that he was working about an engine and in some way his clothing became entangled in the fly wheel of the engine and he was killed before the power could be shut off, his body being badly bruised and mutilated. The remains were laid at rest in the Haxtum cemetery. The deceased had many relatives and friends here who were pained to learn of his untimely death." [Ansley Argosy, Ansley, Custer County, Nebraska]

OBITUARY:
BRADFORD HOUSE --- The town of Haxtum and community continue to be overshadowed with gloom caused by the untimely death of Bradford House during this last week. The heart rending circumstances under which the bright young life was cut short have shocked the whole community. Nothing so sad has happened in our midst for a long time, and the one consolation remaining to the afflicted loved ones and friends of Bradford House is that to him death was perhaps instantaneous and there was no horror and pain. The last sad rites over the remains were performed on Saturday October 19, when a large number of sympathetic friends and neighbors assembled in the Haxtun church to do him honor who had lived among them as a beloved and respected citizen of the town and community. Friends from a distance came and mingled their tears with those of the grief stricken father and mother. Among the out of town people present were S. Drake, of Kearney, Nebr. Mr. and Mrs George Garver of Grand Island, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Whitemore of McCool Junction, Mrs. O.W. Henrick of Blue Hill, the last named ladies were sisters of the deceased. The impressive funeral services were conducted by Rev. Tire of Haxtun and Rev. Heges of Sterling Colo., the latter preaching the sermon and officiating in committing all that was mortal of Bradford House to its last resting place in the Haxtum cemetery. Alas; that youth's sweet scented manuscript should have been closed so soon and so suddenly. Bradford was only 23 years, eleven months and 27 days old having been born in Ansley, Nebraska, October 20, 1889and me this untimely death on October 17, 1912. Great sympathy is felt for the father, mother, brother and two sisters left behind and who, with others, will miss "the touch of the vanished hand and the sound of the voice that is stilled."[Ansley Argosy, Ansley, Custer County, Nebraska Holyoke (Colorado) State Herald]
