Beda was the wife of Charlie's oldest sibling, Carl August Peterson. The New England manifest stated that Charlie intended to stay with his brother, A. Peterson, who resided on West Street in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. The ship's manifest stated that Beda, Roy, and Anna were returning to their home in Massachusetts. Carl August and his family later moved to Saugus, Massachusetts.

Charlie resided in Illinois from November 8, 1904. Although he lived on the north side of Chicago, Charlie filed his naturalization papers in Sycamore, DeKalb County, Illinois.

Charlie married Martha Stichmann on July 15, 1914. Their son Roy was born October 14, 1915. Their daughter Pauline was born November 17, 1917. The brothers Carl August and Carl Johan both named their first child Roy.

Charlie owned retail seafood stores, primarily around Belmont and Halsted. He died in the store located at 3410 Sheffield Avenue.
