He worked for the Rock Island Railroad for 47 years, and retired in 1956 as a Locomotive Engineer. His engine was the "886" which was restored and on display in Peoria, IL.
He was a Navy veteran of WWI, and a charter member of American Legion Post 2.
He first married Irene M. Marriett on Sept. 6, 1910 in Bloomington, IL. They had 2 children: Edith Irene and Edna Mae. The marriage ended in divorce. He next married Sarah Delphia Smith on Sept. 22, 1915 in Watertown, SD. They had 1 child: David Francis (born: Thomas Carson)(Find A Grave Memorial #250626).
