Carlos Edwin Stroup,82, of Smyrna died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Sharon Baptist Church in Smyrna with the Revs. Jeff Buchanan, J. T. McHan and Scotty Davis officiating. Burial will be in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta. The body will be at the church at 1 p.m.

Mr. Stroup served in the invasion of Normandy during World War II and was a former prisoner of war. He served as a deacon at Sharon Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Georgia Lee Stroup, two sons, Joel Stroup of Marietta and Ron Stroup of Canton, one daughter, Priscilla Franklin of Woodstock, three sisters, Esther Lee Smith of Cumming, Carolyn Stroup of Canton and Ivalyne Sanders of Iowa, and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Contributions may be made to Sharon Baptist Church, 3405 South Cobb Drive, Smyrna, Ga. 30080.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna.
