Mrs. Margaret A. Wilson, for many years a resident of this city and widely known for her interest in church and charitable work, died at her home, 454 Taylor street, yesterday morning at 6 o’clock after a short illness. Mrs. Wilson came to Portland from Illinois in 1891 with her husband, the late James G. Wilson. For many years she was a prominent and highly esteemed member of the First Presbyterian Church and its missionary societies. At her bedside were her sons, Robert F. Wilson, of Fairfield, Ia.; James G. Wilson, Jr. an attorney of this city, her daughter, Miss Margaret Wilson, and her youngest son, John F. Wilson. Another son, Samuel Wilson, auditor of the Tacoma & Eastern, was unable to reach Portland before her death.
Mrs. Wilson’s eldest daughter, Mrs. Lewis G. Knight, wife of the Governor of Nueva Viscaya, P.I. sailed last week from Manila in response to a cablegram, and will arrive in San Francisco, February 16.
The funeral services will be held tomorrow.
Mrs. Wilson was a sister-in-law of Dr. Joseph R. Wilson of the Portland Academy.
