OBITUARY: Maxine Amelia (Peterson) Poulson, lifetime resident of Sanford, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2010, at the Conejos County Hospital in La Jara, Colorado after a courageous battle with infirmities of old age. She was 92.

Maxine was born on April 26, 1918, in Sanford, Colorado to Wilford and Jennie Peterson and was the oldest of eight children. She spent most of her childhood years in Sanford where she was blessed to grow up in a loving home with wonderful associations with parents, siblings, cousins, friends, and extended family. Maxine graduated from Sanford High School. Maxine and her husband, Gene, were married on September 23, 1936, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and enjoyed 59 years of marriage before Gene's passing in 1995. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Mesa Arizona Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on November 15, 1942.

The primary focus of Maxine's life was her family. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and a wonderful homemaker. She was an excellent cook and was hostess to many parties with family and friends. Everyone felt welcome in the Poulson home. She dearly loved each of her seven children and 27 grandchildren. Each of them has fond memories of times spent with their mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Poulson was employed as the secretary/bookkeeper for many years for the Sanford Schools. She traveled extensively throughout the United States and to Europe with her Peterson siblings.

Maxine was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many capacities including Relief Society president, Sunday School teacher, Stake Missionary and temple worker along with Gene in Denver.

She is survived by her seven children: Robert Poulson and Donald (Jyette) Poulson both of Albuquerque, N.M.; Allen (Linda) Poulson of Ogden, Utah; Barbara (Fred) Snow of Litchfield Park, Arizona; Paul Poulson and Nancy (Mark) Romero of Sanford; Sue (Ron) Decker of Montrose, Colorado. Five brothers and sisters including Mary June Miller of Sanford; Jean Davis, Bonnie Winters, David Peterson and Lee Peterson all of Albuquerque; Twenty seven grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren, also numerous nephews and nieces.
