John Gleason is a descendant of Thomas Gleason born 1607 in Cockfield, Suffolk, England, died 1686 in Cambridge, Middlesex, MA.

John Gleason's birth record in Granville, Hampden, MA lists his name as John Gleason. His father's birth record name is also John. John never went by the name Jonathan.

Dolly, last known child of Sarah and John was born 11 Nov. 1800 in Granville, MA. Her birth is recorded there. The DAR believes that Sarah died in childbirth but there is no record of her death in Granville even though her Child's birth is recorded. John was having an affair with Hannah, last name not known or proven, who was about 16. This affair produced a child (Hannah) out of wedlock in March of 1801 in NY. We are not sure if the affair happened in MA or NY but we do know from land documents that Sarah was alive in 1802. Best guess is that she died in New York between 1803 and 1810. John continued his affair with Hannah in NY and produced more children. In his will he admits to, and names the children that were born before his actual marriage to Hannah.

John moved from Granville, MA to the Ovid/Hector area sometime between 1800 and 1801. Land documents lists his and Sarah's address as Ovid, NY in 1802.

I have wondered about where John kept Hannah and her children in New York before their marriage. I have no documentation of a marriage between them but his will suggests there was since he lists the children before the marriage and then after. I have found no documentation of the actual death or burial of Sarah in New York or MA. The last signed document I have found is in 1802.
