Abraham moved his family to Jefferson County, Illinois around 1845, latter moving to Washington County. In addition to farming Abraham operated a tannery and a sawmill. According to Jefferson County historical records Abraham was killed in a sawmill accident in 1861. Abraham and Charlotte had 12 children; 8 sons and 4 daughters:
