Mrs. Baum's Death Follows That of Husband, 3 Children
A two-car auto crash on Route 30-N near Bucyrus 10 days ago claimed its seventh victim Tuesday - Mrs. Martha M. Baum, 29, of 1207 S. Main-st.
Mrs. Baum's death at 12:05 a.m. in White Cross hospital, Columbus, wiped out the Kenneth Baum family of five. The husband and three children, Irma Fay, 3 1/2, Jack, 10, and Wayne, 11, died previously as a result of injuries suffered in the collision.
Baum, Irma Fay, and two Marines, Sgt. William J. Houck, 23, Holgate, and Cpl. Lee McTurnan, 24, Parker, Ind., were killed outright in the April 25 highway tragedy.
Condition of Salvatore Dagostino, 60, stepfather of Mrs. Baum, who also was injured in the crash, was reported fair in Mt. Carmel hospital, where he underwent surgery Sunday to relieve brain pressure.
The body of Mrs. Baum was removed to University hospital, Columbus, for autopsy.
She was born in Lima and lived here all her life. Besides her stepfather, she is survived by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Baum, Route 1, Lima; a brother-in-law, Jack Baum, 731 Holly-st; three sisters-in-law, Joan Baum, Route 1; Mrs. Ivan Plummer, 548 W. Spring-st, Mrs. Orville Martinson, Wheeler, Wis.
The body will remain in the Lewis funeral home for services at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Memorial chapel. The Rev. E. J. Penhorwood will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
