MACON – Carolyn Eugenia Stewart Mashburn, 73, fell asleep in death Wednesday night surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mrs. Mashburn, wife of the late Robert Milton Mashburn, was a lifelong resident of Macon and the daughter of the late Theodore R. and Fannie Elizabeth Wright Stewart. She began work at Snow's Memorial Chapel in 1979 as cosmetologist and later added receptionist to her duties. Carolyn was dedicated, kind and loving to the families she served at Snow's and her great joy was to know that she had helped them in the loss of their loved ones. She was always caring and friendly and never met a stranger. Carolyn unselfishly gave of herself to everyone who needed her and will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Hooten. Mrs. Mashburn was one of Jehovah's Witnesses, WestGate Congregation.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family; her daughter, Beverly Mashburn Scarborough of Warner Robins; her son, Rodney L. Mashburn and his wife, Brandy of Macon; her sister, Sarah St. John of Macon and several nieces and nephews, several great nieces and great nephews and cousins who were dear to her heart.
