Chico Record, Saturday Morning, January 21, 1905, pg 1 col 2: Last Tributes To Miss Mattie Cooper. The funeral of Miss Mattie S. Cooper took place from the Presbyterian church yesterday afternoon, and despite the stormy weather a large number of friends gathered to show their last token of respect to the memory of the departed and to share, with bereaved relatives in mourning one who had been called to an untimely grave. Rev. W.G. White conducted the services and affectingly held up the pure life of the departed as a guide to those spared. Many very handsome and appropriate floral tributes from sympathizing friends gave token of the high esteem in which the young lady was held and of the sorrow at her passing.
The pall bearers chosen from former schoolmates and associates were: Everett Merryman, Frank McManus, Joe L. Garthaffner, Hammond Crabbe, Jean Baggerly and Frank Sawyers. Interment was held in Chico cemetery.
