Audie Mae Smith was born to W. Ed and Etta (McFarland) Fletcher in Granite, Oklahoma, on March 26, 1925, and departed this life in Tomball, Texas on July 21, 2012, at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 26 days.
Audie grew up near Granite, OK, and attended school in the Liberty and Osage schools before graduating from Granite in 1943. She married Walter Scott Smith, Jr. in September of 1946 and they made their home in Bethany, OK. They moved to Waco, TX, Yukon, OK,and Spring, TX, before he passed away on December 23, 1993. She attended a business school in Oklahoma City before working for Cooperville in Yukon, OK as an Automotive Bookkeeper for many years. She was a Methodist and enjoyed reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Scott Smith and Woody Mac Smith; and five brothers, Willie, Floyd, Ray, Johnny and Lloyd Wayne Fletcher.
Survivors include a daughter in law, Stephanie Smith of Magnolia, TX; two grandchildren, Christopher Smith and wife Samantha of Missoula, Montana and Andrea and husband Manuel Cantu of Rosenburg, TX; 5 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Betty and husband Bob Banks of Piedmont, OK, Faye and husband Wayne Weaver of Poteau, OK, Marie Cline of Oakwood, OK, and Linda Denham of Yukon, OK, and many other relatives and friends.
