OBITUARY

Anna Laura Todd Nix SCOTT was born January 27, 1892 in Ochiltree County, Texas and departed from this life on December 29, 1925, at Albuquerque, New Mexico, at which place she had been struggling against the malady which finally overcame her. She was the daughter of W. J. TODD; deceased, and leaves surviving: her mother, Mrs. W. J. TODD, her brother, W. J. TODD, Jr., her sister, Mary HENSON and one son, Dale.

Laura, as she was known to her friends, will always be remembered by the residents of Canadian in its earlier years as both her family and herself were prominently identified with this city in the days of its beginning. Her cheerful disposition and friendly attitude toward all of her associates endeared her to those who became acquainted with her and made her a host of friends. She lied to love and loved to live and always met even difficulties and disappointments with a smile.

She was one of Canadian’s fairest flowers, possesses she did an exemplary character coupled with a sprightly and attractive personality, and dying, she left behind her a precious memory, the white lily of a blameless life.

Some years ago, she was united in matrimony to Mr. Clem NIX, and their marriage was a very happy one, and during the time they lived in Canadian Mr. and Mrs. NIX were a popular couple in the social circles of our city. Her husband was a victim to the wave of influenza that followed in the wake of the World War, leaving surviving him their son, Dale, whose age is 11.

About four years ago, Laura was confronted with the malady that led to her decline and began the losing battle against the dread disease which caused her death.

While in New Mexico, she made the acquaintance of Mr. Clay SCOTT, to whom she was later married and who yet survives her.

The interment was in the Canadian Cemetery, and the funeral rites being conducted by the Reverend Fike, the Methodist minister. A large concourse of friends mournfully paid her the last respect of devotion, and her name and character will be remembered as long as her many friends survive.
