Mildred E. Paine, 101, of Rochester, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at Samaritan Bethany Heights.

Midred was born unto Isaac and Rose Ahneman in rural Mazeppa on Aug. 20, 1909. She graduated from Mazeppa High School and was the only member of her family to graduate from high school. Following graduation, she was employed at Rochester Dairy (AMPI) where she worked for 42 years.

Mildred was preceded in death by her beloved son, Lt. Cmdr. Paul W. Paine, who was killed in an airplane accident during the Vietnam War, while deployed on the aircraft carrier Enterprise; one brother, Merral Ahneman; and three sisters, Maud Grossbach, Marian Mills and Myrtle Sommerfield.

She is survived by one nephew, Wayne Mills of Hot Springs, Ark.; and two nieces, Dixie McCormick of Warrensburg, Mo., and Kay Kinsel of Riverside, Mo.; and several great nieces and great nephews.

There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church (400 5th Ave. S.W., in Rochester). Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
