He is survived by daughters: Louise Wilson and husband J. W., Marie Henson, and Diane Harris and husband Buck; grandchildren: Dorothy Ann Scruggs, Deborah Ramsey, Jody Wilson, Kirk Harris and wife Karen, Shellie Wheeler and husband Shane; great grandchildren: Christi Scruggs, Jeremy Scruggs and wife Lacey, Jason Ramsey, Jordyn and Josh Wilson, Michelle and Mark Cashdollar, Brandon Harris, and Brittany and Emily Wheeler; great-great grandchildren: Dylan, Zachary, and Jacob Scruggs, Aubrey Scruggs, and Kaylee Wymer; and sister-in-law: Orena Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters Nettie Mae Pace and Ruby Taylor, and a brother, Clarence Reed.
Mr. Reed was a member of the First Assembly of God church in Athens.
He was an avid domino player and routinely played dominos with the men from the market. He enjoyed making people laugh, telling jokes, and music of all kinds.
