Paul Ray Mass (1923-1988)..awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with seven Oak Leaf clusters,a Flying Ace of the Army Air Corps, piloting a P-38 Lighting he completed 52 missions with the 15th Air Force in Italy. A portion of Tyndall Air Force Museum is dedicated to his accomplishments in WW 11.

The young flyer was awarded his silver wings and received his commission at Williams field, Chandler, AZ. Receiving is cadet training at Santa Ana, CA, Twenty Nine Palms, CA, Pecos Tx. and Ajo, Az.

He was a civilian instructor for air cadets at Colleyville, Kansas. Formerly a instructor at Cram field and Muncipal airport Muscatine, Iowa.

Another lighting pilot, 2d Lt. Paul Mass of Davenport Iowa, won his first victory in Tokol attack, shooting down a JU-88.

He was a member of the 82nd Fighter Group Association and the 95th Fighter Squadron of the Army Corps.

Completing 52 missions over Europe, Paul has been assigned to Daggett field as a instructor.

Before entering the service he was a surveyor helper with J.Ryan Engineering Co.

He retired as a supervisor in the electrical dept at Alcoa.

Married Helen Roberta Goode daughter of Dale Szook Goode and Gladys Cleo Nellis,
daughter Colonel Marta Lou, son Allen.
