Veteran WW 1, Co. F, 302nd AMM. TRAIN. His name is also on Bronze Tablets at entrance to cemetery in honor of those that served in WWI. Further info. from FAG member Cherie Officer, Olean Times Herald, March 9, 1933 Page 7, March 13, 1933 Page 4 and March 15, 1933 Page 2. Robert passed away at the Veterans' National Home, Bath, NY. Spent most of his life in and around Portville. Two sons, Raymond and William of Ithaca, NY, three sisters, Mrs. George Shaw, Ithaca, Mrs. J.H. Wilkins and Mrs. Margaret Barreet, Olean,NY, one brother, Albert Bowlsby, Ceres (Ceres is on the NY/PA border, part of the settlement is in each state.) Funeral was held March 11, 1933 with full Military Honors at his mother's home (Mrs. Carrie Bowlsby) on East State Rd., Olean, NY.
