She was the daughter of Derk and Anna WIENS Tieszen.

She was married to Abraham Duerksen, 24 Feb 1885in Marion, South Dakota. The had 12 children.

Abraham II and Sarah were both born in Russia. Abraham II came to America July 25, 1875 at the age of 10 ½ years. On the ship "Nederland". Sarah came to America Sep 5, 1874 at the age of 8 ½ years on the ship "Cimbria"

They were married in Feb. 1885. They lived all their married life on the same farm N.W. of Marion, S.D. They remodeled their home in 1914, adding the upper story and porch. This was done just before their daughters Nettie and Maggie, double wedding.

Twelve children were born to Abraham II and Sarah. Their daughter Anna died at the age of 3 months of age due to whooping cough. Mary the 10th child died at the young age of 21. The rest of the children helped with the work in the fields and in the home, some taking quite a responsibility at a very young age. Sarah was quite a seamstress, doing lots and lots of sewing in her lifetime. She sewed her children's clothing, even the boy's suits, and most of her daughter's wedding gowns. In her later years as a widow, Sarah pieced and finished many, a child quilts. The last Christmas together with her, at age 81, her children recall each receiving a quilt from their Mother.

Sarah was a widow for 23 years. Most of these years she lived in a small house with a summer kitchen near the house where she raised her family. She enjoyed good health until about the last 3 months, when she went to stay with her daughter, Maggie, in Mt. Lake, MN. Before she left for MN she had said, "But I want to be home by March 15." She died in MN on March 15, 1947, going to her Eternal Home at the age of 81.
