Mr. Warren Eugene Norris, 79 of Lake City went home to be with Jesus early Sunday morning, September 12, 2010 at the VA Hospital in Lake City. A native and lifelong resident of Lake City, Mr. Norris was the baby of nine children to the late Oscar and Minnie Turner Norris. Mr. Norris was a member of the graduating class of 1948 Columbia High School and veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean War. He retired in 1988 from the Florida Department of Transportation and was a member of the New Beginnings Church of Lake City, the Lake City Moose Lodge, the Woodman of the World and the American Legion. In his spare time he loved fishing. Mr. Norris will be celebrating his 80th birthday on the 30th of September in Heaven with Jesus and his family.
Mr. Norris is survived by his wife, Ida Mae Norris, Lake City, a very special nephew, Wayne Norris (Son), Lake City, two daughters, Sandy Blanton (Jimmy Hall), Lake City and Angel Stewart (Vern), Alachua and one sister, Mable Howard (James), Florahome, Fl. Four grandchildren, Christopher Bryant, Lake City, Lane Blanton, Starke and Cody and Logan Stewart, Alachua and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Norris will be conducted on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the New Beginnings Church in Lake City with Pastor Ulis Taylor officiating.
Interment will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Cemetery on US 441 North with military honors. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening from 6-8:00 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 SW Main Blvd., Lake City. 752-2414
