Cyril Marquis (Syke) Joudrie, 80, of Middleton, died Sunday at home.
Born in New Germany, he was a son of the late Charles and Della (Trethewey) Joudrey.
He was active in sports in the Middleton area, coaching and managing hocket teams comprised of players from eight years of age and older. He coached and umpired baseball in the Middleton area and umpired for the Halifax and district league. He was an avid fisherman.
He was past president and secretary treasurer of the Western Valley Minor Baseball Acssociation. He was a member of the Middleton Concert Band and the Middleton United Baptist Church choir. He was past president of the Middleton Horticulture Society and the Middleton Board of Trade. He was secretary treasurer of the Annapolis Valley Affiliated Boards of Trade. He was a reporter for the Halifax Herald Limited for a number of years. He was a member of the Annapolis River Commission in the days of active salmon fishing.
He is survived by a brother, Earl, Seattle, Washington.
The body is in Warren T. Roop Funeral Home, Middleton. Funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Middleton United Baptist Church, Rev.Don Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton.
