*Cape Codder, The (Orleans, MA) - July 9, 2010*
Deceased Name: Philip Cook Sr., of Yarmouth, formerly of Provincetown
Philip Amos Cook Sr., 86, of Yarmouth, formerly of Provincetown, died on Friday, June 11.

A native of Provincetown, Phil was a loving and devoted husband of 60 years to his wife, Carol - they never left each other's side.

Born Oct. 12, 1923, to Friday and Clara Cook, owners of the well-loved Cookie's Tap in Provincetown. Phil was a Navy veteran, having served in WW II. After the war he worked for many years as a fisherman in Provincetown.

With three young boys in tow, Phil and Carol moved to Boston. Phil worked for Eastern Airlines for several years before two bouts with cancer forced him to retire in 1966 on medical disability.

In 1991, the couple moved back to the Cape, settling in Yarmouth. Two years ago, the couple together moved into the Windsor Skilled Nursing Home in Yarmouth.

Phil was a caring and devoted father to his three sons. He never failed to provide for his family and always was there when anyone needed him. He also was loved and cherished by his grandsons Gregory and Matthew. He was loved and respected by all his family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, Carol F. Cook, Phil is survived by his two brothers, Richard Cook and wife Judy and Ralph Cook and wife Jean; his three sons, Philip A. Cook Jr. and his partner Vanessa, Eric Cook and Lee Cook; two grandsons, Gregory and Mathew Cook; plus many nephews and nieces. A funeral service and celebration of life will follow at a time and date to be announced.
