Mr. James O'Shaughnessy, Sr., who for more than eighteen years resided at 4705 N. Winchester Avenue, died suddenly Friday, November 8th (1918) at his old homestead in Newhall, Missouri. Death was attributed to a paralytic stroke. He had suffered a similar stroke about four years ago when he retired from the real estate and insurance business in which he was actively engaged. He was about 75 years of age.
Funeral services were held at Newhall, the family journeying there to pay their last respects. Interment was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Newhall, Mo.
The decendent was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and belonged to the Ravenwood Council Knights of Columbus.
He was the father of four sons and two daughters: James O'Shaughnessy,(FAG# 24037342) who is the Executive Secretary of the American Association of Advertising Agencies, New York; John and Frank O'Shaughnessy, who are prominent attorneys, residing in Ravenswood; Thomas O'Shaughnessy, and artist, who home is at 5051 N. Winchester Avenue; Mrs. Anna Cullen, New Cambria, Mo.; and Sister Mary Grace, Bisbee, Ariz. He is also survived by his widow, Catharine O'Shaughnessy (FAG# 24037365) and fourteen grand-children. A grandson, Jim Berney, is with the Rainbow Division in France.
Mr. O'Shaughnessy was a quiet man, very devoted to his family, and a highly respected citizen of this community.
