Rev. Byron S. Murphy
Services for the Rev. Murphy will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at Partlow Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Larry Foster officiating. Interment will be in Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday from noon until services at the funeral home.
Rev. Murphy, 93, of Lebanon, passed away on Monday, Sept. 13, 2010, in the V.A. Hospital in Murfreesboro. He was an Army veteran where he served as a chaplain, he started the First Church of the Nazarene in 1957 and served as their minister.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Lizzie Trigg Murphy; wife, Stella Payne Murphy; brother, Thomas Murphy and sisters, Ruby Russell, June Street, Linnie Abbott and Mary Phelps.
Survivors include: daughters, Nancy (Don) Woodard, Margaret (Billy) Jones and Linda (James) Lee; brother, Kenneth (Yolanda) Murphy; sister, Pauline Brown; grandchildren, Rhonda (Tim) Greenhalgh, Tammy Crabtree, Melinda (David) Wilhoite and Christina (Shane) Williams; great-grandchildren, Beth, Chase and Christopher Greenhalgh, Brittany Crabtree, Savannah Wilhoite and Peyton Williams; niece, Robbie Gomer and nephews, Ronnie and Dennis Crotzer.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Sherry's Run, P.O. Box 8, Lebanon, TN 37088.
