Elizabeth G. "Betty" (McCardey) Cobb, age 58, of Livingston, died on Saturday, August 30, 2003 at Fort Harrison Hospital in Helena.

Betty was born on November 17, 1944, in Helena, the daughter of Jay and Gerda (Hoyem) McCardey. She was the third of five children. When she was 12, her mother died of asthma. She received her early education in White Sulphur Springs and graduated from Park High School in 1963. After graduation she attended Mr. Max Beauty School in Bozeman. She received her license and worked as a hair dresser for 40 years, of which many years were at Wanda's and Windy City Salon. Recently, she worked part-time for the U.S. Forest Service.

Betty met and married Harold "Jim" Cobb in 1964 in Livingston. The couple settled in Billings for five years before moving to Livingston. Jim and Betty enjoyed traveling to visit Disney Theme Parks and resided in Arizona during the winter months. Betty was a member of the Livingston Church of God and had a very strong and loving faith. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors, and participated in the Sons of Norway. Betty enjoyed drawing, painting, crocheting, taking long walks with er friend Grace and spending time with family. Betty especially enjoyed playing cards and bingo with her best friend and sister Carol.

Betty is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jim; two step-daughters, Debbie (Carl) Tallman and Denise Cobb; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two nephews; three great nieces and one great-nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Gerda (Hoyem) McCardey; three brothers; step-daughter, Teresa Cobb; great-nephew, James Hardesty and granddaughter, Sarah Hardesty.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at the Livingston Church of God with Pastor Ray Zeller officiating.

Memorials may be sent to American Diabetes Association, Montana Office in Billings.

Arrangements were under the direction of Franzen Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in Livingston
