SPENCER -- Eugene J. Harpin, 82, of 30 Elm St., died Saturday, Aug. 2, in Radius Healthcare Center in Southbridge.

He leaves his wife of 44 years, Denise G. (Foucault) Harpin; a stepdaughter, Deborah Clark of Spencer; two step-granddaughters; nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Irene Madelle and Rita Harpin, predeceased him. He was born in Spencer, son of Alfred and Victaline (Branconnier) Harpin. He graduated from David Prouty High School, and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Mr. Harpin was a shoeworker at Kingsbury Heel in Brookfield for more than 30 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Gaudette-Kirk Post 138 American Legion and Our Lady of the Rosary Church.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, Aug. 5, from J. Henri Morin & Son Funeral Home, 23 Maple Terrace, with a Mass at noon in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will be 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Spencer Rescue Squad, PO Box 147, Spencer, MA 01562.
