Beloved son of Sarah Belle Downs and Jesse James Dennis, Jr., brother of Henry, Russell, Ted and William, husband of Vesta Goldie Dennis and father of Chris, Jr., Ronald, Jo Ann, Shirley, Russell, Larry, Brenda, Douglas, Jerry, Jesse, Gayle and Deborah.

He wan born in Mennifee County, May 23, 1912 and was orphaned by the age of eight along with his four brothers and raised by his great Uncle John Downs, a moonshiner. He owned a trucking company during world war two and hauled freight across country for the government. He was a farmer in Harrison County, Kentucky until an accident left him severly physically incompacitated which lead to his lifelong career of building fence with the aid of his seven sons.

He began in the fencing business under the logo of 'Chris Dennis & Sons' in 1968 at the urging of Adolph Rupp, the great basketball coach of the Kentucky Wildcats, for whom he built many miles of oak board fence on Rupp's Russell Cave farm.

Through the years the 'Dennis' name has become the 'hallmark' of fine fencing and expert workmanship across the country. His sons, grandsons and great grandsons proudly carry on the family tradition.
