Sarah Flory "Sallie" Brower was a daughter of Enoch Brower and Ann Flory. They lived in Augusta County, Virginia. They belonged to a branch of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania Mennonites who had settled the area.

Enoch was first married to Catherine Landes, with whom he had one living child, Elizabeth Catherine. When Catherine Landes died, Enoch married Annie Flory. She was this Sarah's mother. Sarah was the first of at least nine children. It was a tradition to use the mother's maiden name for the child's middle name.

On June 7, 1885 Miss Sarah F. Brower married John A. Lincoln in Waynesboro, Augusta County, Virginia. He was from Brooklyn, Poweshiek County, Iowa, and was a widower. His parents were Leporte Lincoln and Mary Heinrick. (His first wife Eliza Snyder had died in 1881.)

Sarah went to live with him in Iowa. We have a birth record of their child there. We also have the burial of that child in the family cemetery there. She was Anna Irene Lincoln born August 16, 1886 and died May 13, 1888. Her headstone says "dau of J.A. & S.F."

On September 23, 1897 we have John A. Lincoln getting married to Rebecca Frances "Fannie" Niswander, and in the 1900 census we see the couple with one of his sons from his first marriage and her son from her first marriage. They both state they had been married twice. We have to assume at some point prior that there was a divorce between Sarah Brower and John A. Lincoln after the death of their child.

On May 4, 1901 John A. Lincoln died in Brooklyn, Poweshiek County, Iowa.

On April 28, 1910 we see Sallie F. and Samuel Isaac Stoner living in Middle River District, Augusta County, with no children. They state that they have been married to each other for one year, and that they are both on their second marriages. (His first wife Lizzie V. had died on October 31, 1908. She is buried here.) Sallie has had, and lost, one child.

Sarah F. "Sallie" Brower's Death Certificate confirms with her parent data that she is the same Sarah Brower that had formerly married John A. Lincoln, who was the son of Leporte and Mary Heinrick Lincoln, and she later married Samuel Isaac Stoner.
