Rebecca was the daughter of Col.John (1746-92) and Mary Brooks LaRue(1766-1843). Her father was a large landowner, and LaRue County, KY was named in his honor. Her mother is reputed to have acted as midwife at the birth of Abraham Lincoln in 1809.
