DECATUR -- Betty Hanks Murray, 74, Osage Beach, Mo., formerly of Decatur, died Tuesday (March 3, 1998). Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Cline Funeral Home, Beardstown. Visitation: two hours before services. Burial: Beardstown City Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cline Funeral Home, Beardstown, and Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach. Memorials: American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.

DECATUR -- Betty Hanks Murray, 74, of Osage Beach, Mo., formerly of Decatur, died Tuesday evening (March 3, 1998) in Lake of the Ozark General Hospital, Osage Beach. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Cline Funeral Home, Beardstown, with visitation noon until service time. Burial will be in Beardstown City Cemetery. Cline Funeral Home, Beardstown, and Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach, are in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Heart Association or American Cancer Society. Mrs. Murray was born Nov. 17, 1923, in Macon County, a daughter of the late Earl and Bessie Beck Patterson. She owned and operated the End Zone Restaurant in Osage Beach for 10 years. She attended Harper Chapel United Methodist Church in Osage Beach and was a member of United Methodist Women's Club of the church and Elks Lodge 2517 in Osage Beach. She married Bill Buck Murray on Aug. 24, 1968. He preceded her in death July 8, 1979. Surviving are her son, Gaylord Hanks of Jacksonville; daughters, Kaye Winings and Linda Sheets, both of Osage Beach; Donna England of Tacoma, Wash.; stepsons, John Murray of Jefferson City, Mo.; Bruce Murray of Springfield, Mo.; stepdaughter, Meredith Powers of Hankins; brothers, John Patterson of Niantic; Virgil Patterson of Dade City, Fla.; Bob Patterson of Decatur; sisters, Thelma Whiteside of Niantic; JoAnn Johnson of Decatur; 10 grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six great-stepgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and one sister.
