Shirley E. Fischer daughter of Paul and Carmen (Guffey) Seider, passed away Monday, September 13, 2010 at Kansas City Hospice House at the age of 72. Shirley was born in Appleton City, Missouri, August 12, 1938. She attended school in Rich Hill, Missouri and received her diploma in 1956. Shirley married Delbert Fischer, June 9, 1957. They were married for 53 wonderful years and had four sons together. Shirley's family remembers her as the world's best cook, a woman who loved life and loved helping others. She wanted her home neat and clean all the time. Shirley was a beautiful woman who loved to read, travel, listen to music, and watch movies. Gardening was another great enjoyment for her and her patch of strawberries was beyond compare. Her family fondly remembers the times when Shirley and Delbert would go out and she would insist on laying his clothes so he would look his best. Shirley was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Prairie City, Missouri. Shirley was baptized on September 11, 1938 and confirmed on April 6, 1952. Shirley taught Sunday school for 25 years, was a member of the Ladies Aide and a secretary for AAL. In Shirley's 72 years she worked for Hallmark Company, Zion Lutheran School as a teacher's aide and for over 12 years she was a secretary for Mott's Meat Company in Rockville. Preceding Shirley in death were her parents, a brother Verlyn Seider and a daughter-in-law Meghan Marie Fischer. Survivors include her husband Delbert Fischer of the home, her four sons, Greg Fischer and wife Kathy, Lowell Fischer, and Kent Fischer all of Rockville, Missouri and Darren Fischer of Olathe, Kansas; six grandchildren Jenna Rohwer and husband Adam, Jared Fischer, Hagen Fischer, Kinady Fischer, Olivia Fischer and Madison Fischer; two step-grandchildren, Steven Mellenbruch and Ashli Mellenbruch; two brothers Dale Seider and wife Kathy of Appleton City, Missouri and Phillip Seider and wife Hope of Clinton, Missouri.


Shirley E. Fischer died Sept. 13, 2010. Service 2 p.m. Wed., Zion Lutheran Church, Prairie City, Mo. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Tues., Hill & Son Funeral Home, Appleton City, MO (660) 476-2135. Memorials Zion Lutheran Church, KC Hospice House or Susan G. Komen Foundation . Burial Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
