Bernard "Ben" Woltzen, 92, of Maple Lawn Homes, Eureka, formerly of Roanoke, died at 3:25 a.m. yesterday (Dec. 24, 1986) at Eureka Hospital, where he was admitted Tuesday.

He was born March 6, 1894, in Roanoke, a son of John and Anna Gastman Woltzen.

Survivors include a brother, John, Metamora, and three sisters, Lena De Freese, Anna Oltman, and Mary Oltman, all of Benson.

A brother and a sister preceded him in death.

Mr Woltzen worked on Roanoke Township's roads for a number of years. He was a mechanic at the Johnson Buick garage in Roanoke and operated a lawn mower repair service in Roanoke before retiring.

He was an Army veteran of World War I, serving as a combat infantryman in a number of battles in France.

He was a member of the Roanoke American Legion Post 463, and served for a number of years on the Roanoke Township Cemetery Board.
