Hall of Fame Professional Hockey Player. A native of Ottawa, Ontario, he played seventeen seasons (1930 to 1946) in the National Hockey League at the position of Left Wing for the Ottawa Senators, Philadelphia Quakers, Toronto Maple Leafs, St. Louis Eagles and the Detroit Red Wings. He played twelve years with the Red Wings, who he helped win the Stanley Cup Championship in 1936, 1937, and 1943. He held the record for fastest goal scored in overtime when he scored the game winning goal 25 seconds in against the New York Americans on March 19, 1940 (the record would stand for the next 29 years). On February 3, 1944 he scored six goals against the New York Rangers, a record that has been equaled since but not broken. He finished with a career totals of 698 Games Played, 237 Goals scored, and 291 Assists. In 1965 he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
