OBIT: Hazel Haliburton-

Hazel Ellen Haliburton, 80, Butler, Mo., died March 1, 1997, at Truman East Care Centre in Kansas City, Mo. The funeral was held March 4. at the Virginia Methodist Church with Brother Dan Dellinger officiating and Pastor John Ketcher assisting. Burial in Virginia Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Truman East Care Centre, Kansas City, Mo. Services were under the direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Haliburton was born March 15, 1916 to George Lee and Margaret E. Rice Craft in Dan, Ky. She spent her early years in Dan, and moved as a young girl to Amsterdam, Mo. In 1945, she moved to Amoret, Mo., for a year and then to Virginia, Mo., where she has lived since. She attended Tempelman School of Hair and Beauty Culture and was a beautician in the 1940's. In 1945, she married Kenneth Halliburton and became a full-time mother and housewife.

In 1967, after taking a certified nursing course, she was employed as a nurses aide at Medicalodge of Butler until her retirement in 1984. She overcame a hearing problem by reading lips, and accomplishment especially helpful to her when working withe the nursing home residents. Hazel was secretary/ treasurer of the Virginia Cemetery Association and a member fo the VFW Auxiliary and the Amsterdam Baptist Church.

She leaves four sons, Richard K. Halliburton and wife Sharon, Butler; Donald R. Halliburton and wife Jeanine, Independence, Mo.; David L. Halliburton, Luther, Okla; and Ronald L. Halliburton and wife Marilyn, Knob Noster, Mo; two daughters, Barbara K.l Arrowood and husband Robert, Independence, Mo.; and Beverly A. Larrick and husband J. W., Desoto, Kan.; one stepson, William Halliburton, St. Louis; 20 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a close family friend, Helen Darby. She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Beatrice Stump; and one stepdaughter, Dorothy Chappell.
