He was a smooth voiced disc jockey and broadcasting pioneer known over the airwaves from Detroit to San Francisco. He had a 30 year career that put him in touch with many of the great names of jazz. He also wrote liner notes for albums the most famous being for Aretha Franklin's "Aretha Now". He had a bit part in the movie "The Betsy" and a recurring role as emcee for the Montreux Detroit Jazz Festivals.
