Carlyle Carlton Cooper, 56, died yesterday morning at 9:30 o'clock at his home at 211 East Park avenue, after a period of declining health. He suffered a heart attack several days ago, and since...

Mr. Cooper was the son of James Porter Cooper, a widely-known Civil war veteran. He was traveling representative of Walker Brothers of New Orleans until failing health forced him to retire.

He was a member of First Methodist church, and was active in the work of the Men's Bible class and B. P. O. Elks. He was a graduate of Vanderbilt university, where he was captain of the football team in 1906, and a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity.

Surviving Mr. Cooper are his wife, Mrs. Mazie Gantt Cooper; two sons, James Porter Cooper and Carlyle C. Cooper, Jr., of Charlotte; one sister, Mrs. Floy Roberts Cooper; one half-sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Granger; and two brothers, W. Harold Cooper and Stanley H. Cooper, all of Paris, Tenn.

Funeral arrangements had not been completed last night. The body is at the funeral home of Z. A. Hovis and Son.
