Military commander and soldier of fortune. "Duke of Schomberg" was appointed Commander-in-Chief in Ireland by King Wiliam III, where one of his first actions was to raise the siege of Derry. Died at the Battle of the Boyne. His epitaph was written by Jonathan Swift.
