Janet L. Hawthorne, 71, of Rock Island, formerly of Moline, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at St. Anthony's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Rock Island.
Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, with burial following. Those wishing to attend should meet at 2 p.m. Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island.
Janet was born Jan. 27, 1939, in Rock Island, a daughter of Everett Mullins Sr. and Myrtle Briggs Mullins. She married Donald K. Hawthorne on Feb. 14, 1981, in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on July 27, 2009.
She was a homemaker. Janet enjoyed going shopping and playing bingo.
Survivors include her daughter, Dawn Marie Wiese, Moline; son, Douglas Wiese, Moline; stepchildren, Greg Hawthorne, Bethpage, Ind., Kirk Hawthorne, Silver Lake, Minn., and Debbie Hawthorne, Calhoun, Ky.; grandchildren, Michael, Kayla, and John-John Jr.; step-granddaughter, April; brother, Everett Mullins, Rock Island; and sister, Helen Aitken, Rock Island. Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, John Wiese; sister, Anna Mullins; and brother, Virgil Mullins.
