Jewell Lovina Whittenberg Parker was born to Joseph Long and Nancy Patience Knight Whittenberg on December 11, 1893, in Copperas Cove, Coryell County, Texas. Jewell was the eldest of six children. Her siblings were Lucy Beatrice, Prudence Evelyn, Joseph Lafayette, Weems Wooten (later changed to Douglas W.), and Frank McBride Whittenberg. Jewell's family farmed and since she was the eldest, she became her father's right hand man. She said her father was very unhappy when she married as he really needed her in the fields with him. Still, Jewell's mother made sure that Jewell learned to sew, cook and do needle work. As a young girl, Jewell's mother Nancy would sew the girl's bonnets into their hair so they dared not take them off.

In 1910, a new family moved next to the Whittenberg family and they were the Parker family. The oldest Parker son, Terrel Scott, would take Jewell to school on his horse. Jewell's father asked her what she thought of the two Parker boys and she replied that the oldes, Terrel had a big nose and the younger, Edwin Juhan Parker, was cute.

On March 3, 1912, in Brady, McCulloch County, Texas, at the age of 18, Jewell married Terrel Scott Parker. Together, Jewell and Terrel had five children and they were Orval Scott, Glenn Edwin, James Lafayette and Evelyn Beatrice Parker. After Evelyn, Terrel and Jewell had to bury a little babe that died before birth.

On September 30, 1953, Jewell had to bury her love, Terrel Scott Parker, in Kingsville, Kleberg County, Texas. Jewell lived in a little 4 room apartment, in Kingsville and was a long time member of the Church of Christ in Kingsville. She had 10 grandchildren: John, Richard and Nancy Parker, Cynda and Don Parker, Crystal, Jewell, and Ruby Hess, Scott and Jeffery Parker.

July 14, 1972, in Kingsville, Jewell passed away after a heart attach and her family misses her very much.
