Charlie was a prominent Paducah attorney for nearly 30 years. For two years Charlie served in the U.S. Army, obtaining the rank of Sergeant and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal. In 1972, he graduated from the University of Louisville School of Law and in September of that year, he began the practice of law. In 1978, Charlie began to limit his practice to representing injured people. In 2000, the Saladino Law Firm became Saladino, Oakes & Schaaf, a partnership where his daughter and son-in-law work in the firm. This firm has been recognized because of its representation of injured people in automobile accidents, truck accidents, river or railroad accidents, and defective product actions. Charlie was listed in Best Lawyers of America, National Registry of Who's Who, Million Dollar Advocates Forum, Melvin Belli Society War Eagle Award, and was a speaker at state and national levels. He was past president of the Kentucky Academy of Trial Lawyers and the McCracken County Bar Association. He was also a sustaining member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, among many other accomplishments. Charlie was killed in an automobile accident near Dawson Springs.
