MURRAY - Ole A. Engebretsen, 89, one of the last survivors of the group of Utahns who worked on construction of the Salt Lake Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died Sunday in a Salt Lake hospital of injuries received in a fall Friday.
Mr. Engebretsen came to Salt Lake City in 1883 as an LDS convert, and had resided in the area since.
He worked in the LDS tithing yard in Salt Lake City and in South Cottonwood, where he moved in 1895.
He was born July 14, 1869 in Eidsvold, Norway, a son of Bernt and Kjesti Anderson Engebretsen.
The Family left Norway and emmigrated to Minnesota, where they joined the LDS Church.
Mr. Engebretsen married Selina DeGrey in September 1894 in Salt Lake City. She died Sept. 18, 1933. He married Ruth Olsen Aug. 12, 1937, in Salt Lake City.
Survivors include his widow; one son, Jack, Murray; and one daughter, Mrs. Stella Hilton, Salt Lake City. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Louise Boulder, Idaho Falls, Idaho.
