MANY PAY THEIR LAST RESPECTS
Mrs. Moses DeFoe, Well Known Resident of Harrison, Laid at Rest Last Friday
Funeral services for Mrs. Moses DeFoe, mention for whose death was made last week, were held at the Catholic church at Kandiyohi last Friday at 10:30 a.m. and were very largely attended. many relatives as well as old neighbors and friends followed the remains from the family residence in Harrison to the church where Rev. Father Hannon conducted the services in the presence of a very large congregation. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful.
The last sad rites were held when the long procession made its way to the family burial ground and the remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery here. The following were those who acted as pallbearers, John DeFoe, Minneapolis; John DeFoe and John Tait, Kandiyohi; William Wheeler, Andy Dowdell and James Dowdell, Harrison.
Ida May DeFoe was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Dibble, residents near Granite Falls, both of whom have passed away. She was born July 9, 1871. Her death occurring Nov. 18, she had thus attained the age of 54 years, four month and nine days. She grew to womanhood on the old homestead, which was located seven miles southeast of Granite Falls, near the old Sioux agency. Her mother died in 1876 and her father in 1898. She was united in marriage to Moses DeFoe at Granite Falls June 7, 1894, and the couple have since made their residence in the town of Harrison just north of Atwater. A son, Horace John, and daughter, Hazel Mary, are the surviving children who with their father will greatly mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother.
Three sisters and two brothers survive the deceased, as follows: Mrs. Amelia Larson, Cottonwood; Mrs. Margaret Smith, Minneapolis; William Dibble, Sioux Falls; Mrs. Kate Skinner and Norman Dibble, Granite Falls. All were present at the funeral except Mrs. Smith. A brother, Dan Dibble passed away in 1897. Other relatives as well as friends from a distance were the following: Peter DeFoe and son John and Mrs. Anna Goodspeed, Minneapolis; Mrs. McCormick, Echo; George Dibble, Sioux Falls; Mrs. Amy Smith, Mrs. Hazel Friend, Elfreda, Walter and Berdine Larson, Cottonwood; Father George Carlin and Miss Anna Carlin, Marshall; Mrs. Angel, Litchfield.
During her long residence in Harrison the deceased had become endeared to the many friends who knew her by her many kindly deeds. She was most hospitable and her neighbors always found her willing and ready to help whenever help was needed. In her...
