Born in Lincoln Valley, North Dakota. Moved to California with the California Conservation Corps. help! to help in the fires in the hills of Santa Barbara. Dad became very successful in his sales profession, becoming a manager in sales for Electrolux and West Chemical Products. Dad was very devoted to Lions Club International (becoming a member with 100% attendance for nearly 40 years). Dad served in many capacities, finally becoming President of the Downtown Stockton, CA Lions Club. Dad was very influential in starting Pixie Woods in Stockton, CA and the Developmental Blind Center in Stockton. Dad loved his Church,the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Dad was baptized by Dr. Arthur L. Bietz in Richmond, CA during some evangelistic crusades. During the lates 70's and early 80's Dad began noticing that he was losing his memory and soon thereafter was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. After a massive stroke on May 5th Dad rallied for a few days and went to sleep in his Savior on Tuesday morning, May 8, 1990 with his wife of nearly 50 years, Edna, at his side. Children: Dr. Fred Mantz of Hughson, CA, Thomas Mantz of Lodi, CA and Kathi Payne of Lodi. CA along with eight grandchildren, Jeff, Erik and Ryan Payne, Lori and Lisa Mantz and Kristin, Kevin and Bryan Mantz.
Services held at Lodi Funeral Home by two friends, Anthonie Wessels, pastor of Fairmont SDA Church and Elder Kenneth Hoover, associate of Dr. Arthur Bietz and family friend.
