Nannie "Nan" J. Bovis, age 80, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics on Friday, October 14, 2016. Preceding Nan in death were her parents, her husband James, one grandson - Chad Hayes, one sister and one brother.

Nan was born October 26, 1935 in Sparta, Wisconsin, the daughter of James and Rebecca (Shaw) Deal. She was a 1953 graduate of Boone, Iowa High School. She was united in marriage to James C. Bovis on Dec. 18, 1960 in Vermillion, South Dakota - James passed away on Sep. 20, 1998.

Nan was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was very active in the Hope Circle. She was also a member of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and the Women's Club.

Nan was a house-keeper and also worked for many years at the Clinton Garment Factory. Nan enjoyed traveling, following the Winston Cup NASCAR Races, golfing and reading.

Nan is survived by one daughter - Nannette (Jon) Hinrichsen of Clinton, IA; one son - Harry (Sandy) Bovis of Clinton, IA; five grandchildren - Nina (David) Barker, Angela (Brian) Stewart, Sara Bovis, Marty (Bri) Bovis, Becky Sue Birely, Meghan (Eric) Faires; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters - Della Wirtz of Boone, IA and Barbara Harriman of Aloha, OR, with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 21, at Lemke Funeral Homes. A visitation will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, at Lemke Funeral Homes. Burial will follow the funeral service at Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

Memorials made will be directed to the wishes of the family.
