At the age of 29, Regina Carter-Norman died at the City of Hope in Duarte of acute lymphoblastic leukemia. She was born in China Lake, California. She moved to Ventura County a number of years ago and became a corrections officer for the Ventura County Sheriff's Department before her illness. She served in the Air National Guard and was deployed during the 1st Gulf War overseas. She was also sent to Los Angeles during the L.A. Riots in the early 1990's. Regina was a VFW volunteer; a National Bone Marrow Drive coordinator; a wildlife conservation volunteer; on the board of directors for the Children of Tomorrow; an Elton Gallegly volunteer; and a Department of Human Concerns volunteer. Survivors include her husband, two sons, parents, sisters and brothers.
