Thomas J., age 1, is found on the 1870 Whitfield County, Georgia census in the household of his grandfather, Perry Bradley. His parents were also residents of this household. His sister Ida Josephine was born in 1871, also in Whitfield County.

It is not known exactly when his parents came to Texas. His mother died in 1875 in Franklin County, Texas. A family member stated that Jasper Perry Bradley took his two children back to Georgia to live with his parents following their mother's death. His father remarried in 1876. Thomas J. and his sister were living with their father and step-mother at the time of the 1880 Franklin County, Texas census.

Thomas married Ida Elizabeth Anderson on 18 Oct. 1891 in Franklin County.

Thomas, his wife and three children are found on the 1900 Grayson County, Texas census. His father's Uncles Absalum and Felix Bradley had earlier moved to Grayson County.
Tom returned to the Franklin County area and lived there the remainder of his life. Thomas and Ida were the parents of four children, two daughters and two sons.

After the death of Ida Elizabeth, Thomas married Mrs. Bertha Mae Farmer on 23 Dec. 1934 in Wood County, Texas.
